'I believed and trusted in my own body, it was instinctive deep within, rising to the surface at just the right time.  You see, I suffered emetophobia and hospitals petrified me.  I wanted a homebirth but my midwife told me I wasn't allowed with a first baby.  I didn't know I could question this, I believed it to be true.  Once I discovered this was not the case, that I had a choice, it was too late.

My daughter was born in safely in hospital, I went home the next day, all was well and I was on cloud nine but I knew that if I became pregnant again I would not be told what I could or couldn't do'

Hello there, I am so pleased to have you here......

I'm Emma, partner to David, mum to 3 wonderful daughters; Daisy, Isabelle, and Harriet, whom I home educate.

I'm a huge animal lover, with cows being a fond favourite.  I love to crochet, watercolour & spending time in our little caravan whenever possible.  I enjoy swing jive dancing, where I get to dress up in 1940's & 1950's clothing with a colourful flower in my hair, which is so much fun.

My passion however, is supporting women and families like you during the perinatal period.

This passion began when I became pregnant with my first daughter, 2001.  It was like a switch flipped inside me!

I went from being stricken with panic and anxiety, to calm and focused.  My whole mindset changed.

It wasn't just about me anymore, it was about my developing baby.  Everything I did during pregnancy was for her.

I was constantly reading, researching and educating myself about pregnancy, labour, birth, babies and breastfeeding.

The fascination and learning has never stopped.

My doula journey began during pregnancy with my second daughter, 2008.  I met a doula at a homebirth meeting and knew instinctively this was something I wanted to do for others...... for you.

I trained with Nurturing Birth and went on to become 'recognised' with Doula UK.

I've supported many women and their families, gaining deeper insight and further knowledge each time.

I've attended various courses and workshops to gain extra skills in things such as;

waterbirth, acupressure, baby-led weaning, rebozo, hypnobirthing, & breastfeeding.

I became certified with BabyCalm, running antenatal, postnatal and weaning workshops.

These are all things that can help you become better prepared as you journey though pregnancy, labour and birth and enable you to approach parenthood calmly and confidently.

During lockdown I decided to take things a step further.  I completed an access to midwifery course and started a midwifery degree, September 2021.

During my second year placement I made the difficult decision to walk away from the training.

I felt I didn't belong within the medicalised side of maternity.  Often feeling uncomfortable with aspects of what I witnessed, or how I myself and others were treated within a stretched system.

I feel better placed and more at home as a doula.

Here, I can fully offer you continuity, support, evidence, information, my compassionate, caring nature, and my listening ear when you need it most.
